JODI Iner Sec Dec V2

The Second 2020 Inter-Secretariat Meeting among JODI partner organisations was held on 4 December 2020.

The virtual meeting, chaired by the IEF, reviewed the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and revisited actions identified and agreed during the last meeting that was hosted by the IEA on 23-24 January 2020 in Paris, France.

The IEF updated JODI-Partners on the outcomes of the G20 Energy Ministers Meeting of 27-28 September 2020 with regards to the role of energy data transparency in strengthening energy security and market stability. Energy ministers invited the IEF to enhance the comprehensiveness and broaden the geographical scope of energy data coverage in coordination with the JODI partners, as well as with other relevant international organisations.

In respect of the G20 Energy Focus Group established under the G20 Presidency of Saudi Arabia, energy ministers invited the IEF to take steps with the aim to fill the gap in data transparency for more comprehensive energy data coverage and analysis in cooperation with the IEA, OPEC and other international and regional organisations, under the umbrella of JODI and the trilateral work programme (IEF12 Cancun 2010).

The JODI Inter-Secretariat Meeting further reviewed:

  • Country participation in JODI-Oil and JODI-Gas to assess the impacts of the health crisis,
  • Recent virtual capacity building efforts made by JODI Partners under the UNSD's International Recommendations for Energy Statistics (IRES UNSD 2011) and other evolving norms,
  • Planning for way forwards to improve data processing and dissemination,
  • Actions toward the IEF17 Ministerial Meeting related Meeting of Heads of JODI Partner Organisations hosted by Saudi Arabia with Nigeria and Morocco as co-hosts that is scheduled to take place in 2021.

JODI Partners will continue to enhance energy data visibility and data comparability also in accordance with the 5-Year JODI Action Plan, and through the development of the Energy Data Transparency Portal featuring data that complements JODI Oil and Gas.
