The 32nd APEC Expert Group on Energy Data and Analysis Meeting

The 32nd annual meeting of APEC Expert Group on Energy Data and Analysis (EGEDA) featured Joint Organisations Data Initiative (JODI). The event was virtually hosted by People’s Republic China on 12-13 October 2021. Sixty-one (61) experts from 18 APEC member economies as well as from EGNRET, EGEEC, IEA, IEF and IRENA participated in the meeting to discuss various energy data and analysis development in the region. 

The experts from the IEF and Asian Pacific Energy Research Center (APERC) reported on both global and regional JODI developments including new database features, data transparency standardization and capacity building programmes as well as the initiative’s stakeholder engagement activities. As APEC region represents around 50% of global hydrocarbon supply and demand, APERC expert emphasized significance of their members’ sustained engagement in JODI – the energy data transparency initiative. The timely, accurate and complete energy data provision mechanism informing both policy making and trading decisions is a key enabler to achieve greater energy market stability and security.
